In a rapidly changing world, the future lies in a knowledge-driven economy. To this end, TUA brings together the
powers of the knowledge institutions in West Flanders.
The focus is on two main pillars:
1. The higher education institutions within the province may cooperate more.
2. Provide the available knowledge of the economic fabric, businesses and, in particular, the many SMEs in the region.
As an external agency of the Province of West Flanders, TUA performs a liaison function to bring together partners from different sectors and walks of society. The triple helix model lays the link between companies, knowledge institutions and governments.
TUA focuses on the themes of the various knowledge centres that were distilled in West Flanders: Blue Energy, Mechanical Engineering & Mechatronics, New Materials, Nutrition and Health Economics.
Thus, as a private foundation, TUA helps to fulfil the ambitions of the West Flanders Province, summarized in West Deal and the Europe 2020 Strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth in the European Union.
